a very basic tutorial on how to enable virtualization and disable hyper v for dummies.

Before we begin, open up task manager, go to your performance tab, and check if you already have virtualization enabled. if it's enabled, skip this section.

To enable virtualization, please search on Google for "How to enable virtualization on [your motherboard name]." If you are unsure about your motherboard name, you can find it by following these steps:

Open the Run dialog by pressing the Windows key + R. Type "msinfo32" in the Run window and press Enter. The Windows System Information overview will open, and you will find your motherboard information specified next to "Baseboard Manufacturer."

Entering Bios

Depending on your motherboard, the "access-key" to enter your BIOS differs. Google your motherboard manufacturer to find out your "access-key".

Enter your BIOS by clicking, spamming your BIOS key when your PC is starting up.

Virtualization for Intel Users:

Once in your BIOS settings, head over to the advanced tab and select CPU configuration.

From there, go to Intel Virtualization Technology, and enabled it. Save changes and exit.

Your BIOS settings may differ depending on your manufacturer.

Virtualization for AMD Users:

Once in your BIOS settings, head over to the advanced tab and select CPU configuration.

From there, go to SVM Mode, and enabled it. Save changes and exit.

Your BIOS settings may differ depending on your manufacturer.

DISABLING HYPER V:

Determine whether the Hyper-V hypervisor is running:

To determine whether the Hyper-V hypervisor is running, follow these steps:

  1. In the search box, type msinfo32.exe.

  2. Select System Information.

  3. In the detail window, locate the following entry:

    A hypervisor has been detected. Features required for Hyper-V will not be displayed.

Note that to fix the Hyper-V detected error, you will need to disable the Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Hypervisor Platform feature in addition to Hyper-V.

Disabling Hyper-V Using Windows Features Dialog:

  1. Press the Win + R key to open the Run dialog.

  2. Type control and click OK to open the Control Panel.

  3. In the Control Panel, click on Programs.

  1. Next, click on Programs and Features.

  2. In the left pane, click on Turn Windows features on or off.

  1. In the Windows Features dialog, locate Hyper-V.

  2. Uncheck the Hyper-V option to disable the feature.

  1. Next, scroll down and locate the Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Hypervisor Platform options.

  1. Unselect both options and click OK.

  2. Windows will uninstall Hyper-V and other features from your system.

  3. Once done, restart your PC to apply the changes.

Disabling Hyper-V Using BCDEDIT:

You can disable Hyper-V in boot configuration using the BCDEdit tool. Useful if you only want to deactivate Hyper-V and not uninstall it completely.

To disable Hyper-V using BCDEdit:

  1. Press the Win key and type cmd.

  2. Right-click on the Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

  3. In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter:

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
  1. When the success message appears, close the Command Prompt, and restart your PC to apply the changes.

Disabling Hyper-V Using Windows Services:

To access Windows Services on a Windows operating system, follow these step-by-step instructions:

  1. Open the Run Dialog Box:

    • Press Windows + R on your keyboard. This will open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type "services.msc":

    • In the Run dialog box, type "services.msc" (without quotes) into the text field.

  1. Click OK or Press Enter:

    • Click the "OK" button or press the "Enter" key. This action will launch the Services application.

  2. Accessing Services with Search (Alternate Method):

    • Another way to access Services is to use the Windows Search feature:

      • Press Windows + S to open the Windows Search bar.

      • Type "Services" into the search bar.

      • Click on "Services" in the search results to open the Services application.

  1. Navigate the Services Application:

    • Once the Services application is open, you'll see a list of services on the main screen. These services are grouped into columns with headings like "Name," "Status," "Startup Type," and "Log On As."

  2. View and Manage Services:

    • Scroll down to H , you will see all the hyper v services stop them.

    • To stop the hyper v Services right click on them select properties and select disabled.

  1. Close the Services Application:

  • When you are done disabling all hyper v services, you can simply close the Services application and restart ur pc
